In case some of you are wondering why we are now branding our conference at the Castle as “Refresh Europe,” here’s why:
1. I’ve been trying to move away from the “Missions Conference” label for some years now because of the fact that the conference no longer, and hasn’t for quite some time, served only missionaries. At least half of our normal attendees are national pastors and workers. So, although “missions” was appropriate back in the days when most of those in attendance were missionaries serving on the foreign field in Europe, that is no longer the case.
2. Refresh Conference is descriptive of what our goal is for these conferences. In Acts chapter 3, Peter refers to, “times of refreshing from the presence of the Lord.” That very much describes what we want to experience during these times together. As many of us already know, the Castle is extremely conducive for these seasons of refreshing, the family retreat atmosphere, the nearby towns and villages, and perhaps best of all, the lake. Combining all of that with times of teaching, prayer, worship and fellowship, sets us up for being refreshed.
3. “Refresh Europe.” Why Europe? Simple: We are in Europe and want to encourage those serving in Europe. Of course, all are welcome regardless of where one serves, but our emphasis is on Europe. Along with “Refresh Europe,” we are establishing other Refresh Conferences in different regions around the world, and you can check here for further info.
